Carpinus Betulus, commonly known as the Hornbeam, is a superb long established native hedging tree. Looks and grows very similar to Beech, however the leaves have much deeper veins. A perfect hedging solution where soil conditions are poor or for very exposed areas, looks superb in a country style garden, but looks elegant within an urban or inner city location. Very hardy and semi evergreen, the leaves in spring and summer are a fresh lush green colour turning golden brown in winter. Again similar to the Beech tree, however does drop slightly more leaves than Beech in winter, but faster growing. Ideal hedging tree to create privacy and can also be used as a windbreak or noise barrier. We will deliver direct to you, a full pallet of 20 high quality, extra large, 8-9 years old established rootball hedging trees which are approximately 6-7ft tall. The trees are not pre-dug and stored in bulk. Instead, they are freshly dug from the field when you place an order. The reason for fresh digging is to prevent damage and drying out. The trees will be delivered within 7-10 working days via a kerbside pallet delivery service, either to your home or a site you specify.

A rootball tree is a field-grown plant that has been cultivated for several years to develop into an extra-large, established bush or tree, perfect for those who want instant-effect gardening. Dug directly from the field with the roots and soil left perfectly intact, the "rootball" is then wrapped in a biodegradable hessian sack. Simply plant the tree with the sack left on the rootball and water regularly for the first year for a beautiful, instant hedge - a true investment for your garden. There is no strict rule for planting distances. However, we suggest planting 1 or 2 trees per meter for an instant-effect hedge. The closer you plant, the faster your hedge will establish - it's that simple. But if you don't mind waiting a little longer for them to grow together, planting them a bit further apart will work just fine.
