The zip is usually the most fragile part and the one that will fail first due to the amount of pressure at the heel. HOW TO PUT IT ON: Here's how to put it on without a zip. STEP 1: pull the overshoe on and up over the calf; STEP 2: put your shoe on. STEP 3: pull the overshoe back down over the shoe. WHICH SIZE?: This product is designed to be used with road cycling shoes, which tend to be narrow. If your shoes are wider than average, then buy one size larger. WATER ENTRY THROUGH CAPILLARY ACTION: If your tights aren't water repellent, they're highly likely to soak up rain. Even the best overshoes in the world wouldn't help: if your tights are in contact with your socks, they'll absorb water through the capillary effect. This is why Van Rysel only creates winter tights with a water-repellent membrane, such as the Racer long tights.
